Hi,

After searching….here is the solution to remove “Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License” from Joomla1.5 footer:

> go to the core files

> modules\mod_footer\tmpl\default.php

Line #4 either comment it or delete it as you wish.

Save it!

>> One another way

Go to the core files >> Languages >> en-GB >> en-GB.mod_footer.ini

You will find following codes there, modify here:

FOOTER=Footer
FOOTER_LINE1=Copyright © %date% %sitename%. All Rights Reserved.
FOOTER_LINE2=Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.
MOD_FOOTER=mod_footer

THIS MODULE SHOWS THE JOOMLA! COPYRIGHT INFORMATION=This Module shows the Joomla! Copyright information

    @joomla: did you find the file in question?

    http://www.yoursite.com/modules/mod_footer/tmpl/default.php

    open this file to edit it…

    delete line 4 (or put after what’s already there

    In the end, it should look like this:

    <!– –>

    This is a tested method working 100% try it:
    Go to the core files >> Languages >> en-GB.mod_footer.ini || modify it there.

    FOOTER=Footer
    FOOTER_LINE1=Copyright © %date% %sitename%. All Rights Reserved.
    FOOTER_LINE2=Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.
    MOD_FOOTER=mod_footer

    OR, another way to do it is:

    Go to yourtemplate/index.php >> bottom of page || change it there.

    Joomla!.
    XHTML CSS

    Enjoy! 😉

    You need to clear your cache to update the footer. On Admin Panel, select Tools, Clean Cache and pick footer.

      Hello Nelvine,
      Following is the steps to remove the Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License, but keeping the footer active.

      The Sentence is located in languages files in Mod_footer.ini in following location.

      Joomla Root Directory – Languages – enGB – en-GB.mod_footer.ini

      Open the file with Notepad or other editor , edit or remove: Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License with your own text and then save. After saving uplaod the files to its original location on your server, if you are asked to overwirte the file, select Yes.

      Becarefull not to delete or misplace any other scripts other than the text, any changes to the scrip can make a new function to the footer.

      Thats it. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Dear Muamer and other friends.. facing trouble removing it..

    I am currently using Joomla ! 1.5.7

    You can remove it the following method

    Joomla Root Directory(where it has been installed) – Languages – enGB – en-GB.mod_footer.ini

    Delete/edit content of Footer_line2
    Save it and refresh your page and you are good to go.
    DONOT Delete FOOTER_LINE2. delete only its content.

    Hope this helps.

    This is the cleanest method of several I’ve read. It also has the benefit of not losing breadcrumbs when they’re in the footer.

    I’m currently using Joomla! 1.5.22 and have problem while remove backend footer.

    I’ve done what you said above, and success to remove the copyright, but after I choose another menu (e.g Components > Banners) the Joomla! link to Joomla.org appear before my changed copyright.

    Can you help me to solve this problem.

    What I’ve done before:
    – Change the language pack (en-GB.mod_footer.ini) in administrator area

    – Try to remove ISFREESOFTWARE from cpanel.php

    Can you help me. Thanks

    Hello Angga,
    Here is how you will remove the copyright notice from admin section:

    Use FTP or HTTP and browse to following files:
    Administrator – templates – select the template you are using, the default template for joomla admin is “khepri”. open and edit index.php and cpanel.php. You can find the joomla copyright info at the last part these files in “” Tag.

    if you want to edit copyright information in admin login page as well, then edit the file login.php.

    That should work and help you.

    Thank you,
    Shuja Aria

    I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

    Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for
    a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

      Hi Rose,
      I am not author of this blog, but thought to give you some advise.

      It depends what kind of website you are looking at. You can pretty develop any kind of website using free CMS such as Joomla and WordPress and then to purchase individual components or plugins as per your requirement.

      For example you can start developing your template for a Joomla E-commerce website and then to purchase additional components (Shopping carts, Gateways..) to achieve your goal. I would give a try to either Joomla or WordPress as they work perfect for everyone.

      Thanks,

    I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before

    I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
